This year Woodley House marks our 60th Anniversary – a milestone event for a nonprofit organization! We celebrated this anniversary with our 22nd Annual Movie Benefit and a screening of Walt Disney Pictures’ Mary Poppins Returns. It was a wonderfully festive evening and great success.
We are very grateful to The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Pictures for providing this fabulous film for our event. Their support means so much to our organization and the people we serve. All funds raised go to our programs to provide a safe, comforting residential community in which people struggling with mental illness can heal.
Very special thanks to our marvelous Master of Ceremonies, Dana Bash, Chief Political Correspondent at CNN, and to John Valenti, who spoke so movingly about his mother, Mary Margaret Valenti, and her love and support of Woodley House. We have created a special Mary Margaret Valenti Memorial Scholarship for Peer Counseling & Recovery Coaching, which we know she would have loved.
We are very grateful to The Coca Cola Company for their donation of Coca Cola, Sprite and Dasani Water for our event. And special thanks to Spices Restaurant for another wonderful VIP Reception!
A resounding THANK YOU to everyone who supported this very special event, especially our Diamond Anniversary Ambassador, David Rubenstein.
We dedicated this year’s Annual Movie Benefit to the memory of Benefit Founding Chair, Mary Margaret Valenti, for creating this annual event and for her devotion to Woodley House and those we serve. She was an extraordinary woman and we will miss her.
