TICKET SALES TO OUR MOVIE BENEFIT ARE NOW CLOSED! We thank you all and look forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
This year Woodley House celebrates our 60th Anniversary and we are proud to announce our 22nd Annual Movie Benefit on December 12, 2018. We do hope you can join us for this fun event.
We will feature a special, pre-release screening of Walt Disney Pictures’ ‘Mary Poppins Returns’, starring Emily Blunt as the inimitable Ms. Poppins, with Meryl Streep, Colin Firth and Lin-Manuel Miranda of Hamilton fame. It tells the story of the Banks children who are now adults and in need of a little Poppins magic themselves! The Movie Benefit is our Woodley House signature event and a great Washington, DC tradition to start the holiday season!
We are very grateful to The Walt Disney Company and Disney Pictures for providing this fabulous film for our event. Their support means so much to our organization and the people we serve. All funds raised go to our programs to provide a safe, comforting residential community in which people struggling with mental illness can heal.
There will be a buffet reception at Spices Restaurant starting at 5:30 pm, before the special screening at the Uptown Theater at 7:30 pm. CNN Chief Political Correspondent (& former board member), Dana Bash, will be our Master of Ceremonies.
As we mark this milestone anniversary, we are proud to recognize and honor the people who are the heart and soul of Woodley House — The Woodley House Staff, Past & Present as the recipients of our 2018 Rose Award. We applaud their compassion and professional dedication to the thousands of men and women who have passed through our program.
We also dedicate this year’s Annual Movie Benefit to the memory of Benefit Founding Chair, Mary Margaret Valenti, for creating this annual event and for her devotion to Woodley House and those we serve. She was an extraordinary woman and we will miss her.
