Woodley House has been celebrating Beethoven’s Birthday, Dec. 16, since 1972. This nondenominational holiday-season celebration was established as an alternative during a season that can be triggering for many people in recovery from their mental health disorder. The annual celebration is a time for musicians to play works by Beethoven as well as holiday favorites. Residents often sing solos, dance, and recite their own poetry. And, of course, everyone enjoys the festive food!
